We also give waste materials a new life!

Besart Recaj, Production line management

Packing cushion system

The packing cushion plant, which has been in operation since 2005, processes the company’s cardboard waste in a shredder and tubular bag machine into filling material for our product packaging.

In this way, resources can be conserved and emissions saved on the disposal of cardboard waste. These special packing cushions are made 100% of materials that can be disposed of properly via waste paper.

Waste management

In order to reduce the use of our resources and to recycle as much of our waste as possible, we work together with a regional company to process our collected film waste into high-quality plastic granulate.

Energy

Since 2013, the demand for thermal energy has been covered by certified eco natural gas and electricity demand from hydropower – our stacking vehicles run 100% electrically and are therefore environmentally friendly.

On the basis of sustainable lighting concepts, compressed air generation, the EDP, as well as automated conveyor systems on the entire premises are energetically optimized. In addition, the in-house photovoltaic system has a positive effect on the climate balance.

Creating Work & Future

{

We understand sustainability management as a joint task of all key decision-makers in the company!

Prof. Dr. Rainer Maria Wagner, General Manager

Social aspects in the supply chain

We actively oppose exploitative employment conditions along our value chain and expect all employees to be treated fairly in accordance with international standards.

For this reason, Topstar GmbH has also been a member of the Amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) since November 2014.

Education and training

Individual training needs are identified through personal contact between employees and their managers, and are then met through internal training measures or external training institutions.

Inclusion/ Top-Up Program

Since 2015, the Top-Up program has been a firmly established system and gives all employees the chance to actively participate in the company’s activities by submitting suggestions for improvement – this way, ecological, economic and social benefits can be achieved at the same time, which includes all company matters, e.g. improvement of workflows.

Production

Many of our suppliers have additional certificates in the areas of quality, safety and environmentally-friendly production. We stand for an environmentally-friendly production process.
